This week in 5A, both Tommy K. and Joey V. shared in their enthusiasm for changes in matter by leading their very own demonstrations!
Tommy K. modeled a physical change by placing packing peanuts in water.
Last week in Physical Science, our students learned about physical and chemical changes. To better understand the results of a chemical reaction, the fifth grade observed a demonstration, in which substances interacted with each other to produce a chemical change.
In the first part of the demo, students learned what happens when Alka Seltzer mixes with water. In the second part of the demo, students observed the reaction that occurs when calcium chloride is combined with baking soda. Check out the pictures below of the demonstration in action!
