Theme Mini-Lesson

This week in reading, our “readers” were introduced to the story element known as theme.

Force Foldable, Theme, Compare & Contrast, Earth Day 022

To build understanding, the students listened to the fable, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, and the story, Chrysanthemum, read aloud. They then discussed each story’s theme.

Once students understood how to identify and explain the theme of a story, students worked with a partner to complete the template below using a picture book they were assigned.
