To keep you in the Grammar loop, the fifth grade is currently learning the simple tenses of verbs. These tenses include past, present, and future. I challenge you to point out the tenses your child uses next time you speak with them!
This week in grammar, students were introduced to the concept of linking verbs. To learn the most common linking verbs, our students memorized a song! Then, to help distinguish between linking verbs and action verbs, our students partipated in the “Wheel of Verbs” activity.

As you know, our fifth graders recently learned the rules for making various singular nouns plural. To expand their understanding, the students worked in small groups to identify and catergorize singular and plural nouns in non-fiction texts, such as newspaper and magazine articles. They then used their Nouns Foldable to identify the rule that applied to each plural noun found in their text. Below are some examples of the completed poster!
